From Lion President Jim:

Lucky to Live Here … and Be a Lion

Every October, a tourist or two tells me how lucky I am to live in Brown County. I always agree that I am thankful that I get to live here, but not for the reasons they have in mind.

I am thankful not for the trees and the hills, but for the people that make up our community.

I am thankful for surrogate grandparents who jokingly tell my boys that Santa will fall off our steep roof and who threaten them with “tickle bugs.”

I am thankful for strangers who come together to raise thousands of dollars for a “No-Name-Committee” to buy Christmas gifts for needy children.

And I am thankful for a diverse group of men and women who join in a Lions Club to raise money for charitable groups and students, coordinate events that build a unique sense of community and even play Santa.

In this season of thanksgiving and charity, I am thankful for the way you have adopted me and my family. I am thankful for your tireless efforts to make Brown County a great place to live. I am thankful for your dedication to serve locally, nationally and internationally.

We have a lot to be thankful for, including the Brown County Lions Club.
